About Benjamin Conner, Owner of Trauma to Peace

Licensed Professional Counselor, MS, LPC, EMDR, Veteran

If you suffer from trauma, PTSD, anxiety, or depression, and you are exhausted from the fight, let’s talk.

I survived emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. Trauma and PTSD were part of my life for many years. I successfully transitioned from military search and rescue to civilian life with my wife and three boys. I worked through a journey of mental and physical wellness for myself and those I care about. I understand treating these issues with multiple evidence-based practices including EMDR, and guiding healing for individuals and families.

Work, relationships, and parenting are difficult by themselves, with trauma in the background they can seem impossible. Treating those injuries from the past and present can change your life, strengthen your identity, and heal your relationships.

I offer you a pathway from pain and fatigue to peace and empowerment. This comes from one who has endured it. I understand trying to make it to the next minute or the next day and it seeming impossible. I was tired too. I have a different life now. I don't believe in people needing counseling weekly for years on end. Lets work together for relief.

Reach out to me, lets build some trust and get some work done that makes your life, mind, and body feel different. We are 100% online, no need to travel, we can work with you anywhere in Texas and Utah.‍ ‍

I have served all of my life in one way or another and I have plenty of experience working alongside some very helpful people at great organizations. The benefits offered can be a powerful aid to get the treatment you or your loved one needs. Please ask me about my work with Wounded Warrior Project, PTSD foundation, SOF.net and other organizations as a veteran serving veterans. If you represent an organization I should be involved with as a counselor or advocate please contact me.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Ben worked as a Special Operations Pararescuemen in the US military as well as a private contractor for a combined 17 years. Ben was also a coach of High School and youth sports for 25 years.  After military service and living in many countries around the world, he completed a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. After technical training in EMDR he was mentored by two therapists who learned the technique by its author Dr. Francine Shapiro. He has worked to serve others his entire life in physical and mental medicine as well as coaching and enjoys guiding people along a similar path he took to find peace.  He has been using CBT, ACT, EMDR, IFS, and other evidence-based practices every day since 2020 to bring others from trauma to peace.

Your identity is there, peace is there. Your life can be different than it is right now.

PTSD, as told by a Specials Ops Veteran
Published by Deep Eddy Therapy

A short time after my special operations experience, I was moving my young family to a new city. My wife, son, and I were in the back of a U-Haul unloading boxes into a storage unit near our new home. My wife and young son ambushed me in the back of the truck, cutting off the exit and making imaginary machine gun sounds as young kids would. At that moment, my body reacted with an intense physical response. I found myself unable to hear anything other than my own heartbeat and a ringing in my ears. I was crouched involuntarily in a pool of my own sweat. Paralyzed, I could not see or speak, I could not understand what was happening, and I was not in control of my body’s physical reaction. I stayed there for an undetermined amount of time. When I came to my senses, I was exhausted, unable to think clearly, and at a loss to explain what had just occurred. That was the beginning of my new knowledge of PTSD.

What Listeners Had to Say

This guest has been powerful in his example, natural humility, honesty, and openness about his family and experience that is resonates more than any Youtube professional online currently. He’s deliberate, and completely genuine, and knocks back the myths that have bothered me with other perspectives on PTSD, that not many will admit. Bravo Ben, this was pure gold. You’re a gift to those that seek your help.

Thank you so much Ben! This is a mind/heart opening episode...love it. I wish Ben I could find a therapist like Ben here where I live. I've gone thru several throughout the years for different things and not one has drilled down like Ben did today.
